The conciliator’s recommendation will be presented to the members

Meeting in a federal council on September 16 and 17, 2024, your delegates were informed of the conciliator’s recommendation on the renewal of your working conditions. Remember that, in a last-ditch effort to get the FIQ and the government to reach an agreement, the conciliator called the parties to an intensive bargaining session on September 4. In the end, and faced with impossibility of reconciliation, the conciliator took the decision of his own accord to submit a recommendation that he considered to be a balanced proposal for the parties.

A referendum vote in mid October

Following the presentation of the conciliator’s recommendation, your delegates agreed to present it to the members in a referendum vote which will be held from 8 pm on October 15 to 8 pm on October 17.

The details on the voting process will be sent to you over the next few days. This process will be very similar to the one used for the previous referendum vote. Keep your eyes peeled.

Over the next few weeks, your union representatives will be holding information general assemblies to present to you the content of the recommendation on the renewal of your working conditions. It is very important to participate, as it is the best place to obtain accurate and truthful information. Several other tools will also be made available to help you make a fair and informed choice.

Considering the consultation process that is starting, the delegation made the decision to suspend all pressure tactics until the end of the referendum vote.
