Isabelle Groulx
Vice-présidente inhalothérapeute (SST, RH, Sécurité sociale)
CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest
Dear colleagues,
I would like to share with you my interest in extending my term on the FIQ Executive Committee. I am still motivated by the desire to see my files through to a successful conclusion, so I am applying for the position of Respiratory Therapist VP.
A union rep since 2003, I have held various positions at the local level from VP Social Security to interim president, then at the FIQ level as an elected union rep for the OHS Committee, member of the ASSTSAS Board of Directors, and on the 2019 Negotiating Committee and now member of the FIQ Executive Committee. Over the years, I have acquired varied experience and developed an expertise in occupational health and safety. This baggage and knowledge have been invaluable in helping me to meet the challenges that have arisen during my term. As stated at the 2021 Convention, “I’m a force to be reckoned with” and it’s this tenacity that has fueled my desire to defend the interests of my respiratory therapist colleagues so that we are maintained in Class 1. It was also my integrity and discernment that enabled me to develop a critical eye when I had to make difficult decisions during the waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When I was elected, my goal was to make OHS a transversal sector and I have maintained that target by collaborating in several files with other sectors including the Status of Women and OWPP. The OHS component stood out in particular for its prevention meetings, appeals related to complaints under Section 32 of the AIAOD, concerning entitlement to COVID premiums for a RPTE or occupational injury, inspection files concerning psychosocial risks and fatigue at work, and the investigation into deaths that occurred in CHSLDs during the pandemic.
I would like to continue my work whether in the insurance, retirement or pay equity files, Forum de santé globale (Global Health Forum) and deployment of the LMRSST. OHS is at a pivotal point in the history of healthcare professionals, and I’m the candidate to make it happen. I’m asking for your support for a second term.
