Special Federal Council on July 11, 2024: Negotiations are at an impasse
On July 10, 2024, your union representatives gathered at a special federal council to get a full update on negotiations.
Your Negotiating Committee has a clear message: there’s an impasse at the bargaining table. The employer party’s representatives are inflexible, especially with regard to their flexibility demand. They insist on their demand on the centre of activities and refuse any additional financial demands.
Your Negotiating Committee is always working to propose solutions to break the impasse, for example, solutions that do not involve revising the concept of a centre of activities. However, the government clearly refuses to make any steps towards us, which makes progress at the table a lot more difficult.
Given this situation, your union representatives and Negotiating Committee will take the next few weeks to look at what will enable us to settle negotiations. The next few weeks will be decisive in preparing for the fall, at which time, another strike is a real possibility.
In the coming weeks, you will be called to participate in local general assemblies to discuss the context and the next steps. It is important that you all participate so that you are well aware of what’s happening at the table and can debate the best possible strategy for our next negotiation moves. Remember that it disadvantages us to speak about our strategy publicly since it helps the government, allowing it to prepare accordingly. That’s why it’s important that you participate in your local assemblies. Keep an eye out for messages from your local team!
