At a federal council held on March 19, 20 and 21 your union representatives ratified the proposed tentative agreement reached with the Québec government.
Significant improvements
The tentative agreement negotiated includes several improvements, including:
- Salary increases of 17.4%;
- The framework for mandatory overtime, which should only be used in emergency and exceptional cases;
- Gradual elimination of the use of independent labour and the public network healthcare professionals are prioritized in choosing schedules;
- A government commitment to gradually implement ratios;
- Overtime for nurses with a university degree will be better recognized;
- A commitment from the government to gradually implement ratios;
- Premiums in the collective agreement for the critical periods during the holiday period and summer;
- Funds allotted for catching up on surgeries.
Moreover, in the context of the creation of Santé Québec, the government was demanding more flexibility. The FIQ ensured that any adverse effects were kept to a minimum by providing a framework for nursing and cardio-respiratory care expertise and the need to train, orient and maintain skills in the event that the Employer modifies a centre of activities.
All the details on the agreement can be found on the FIQ website.

Finally, you can vote on this agreement in an online vote on April 10, 11 and 12, 2024.
