The conciliator has submitted a recommendation on the renewal of your working conditions
On September 4, 2024, we informed you that the conciliator had called the FIQ and the government to an intensive bargaining session. He found that the parties were still far from reaching an agreement and that the debate was becoming increasingly heated in the public arena, particularly since we relaunched our mobilization in mid-August.
At the ensuing meetings at the bargaining table, the conciliator invited the parties to review the issues in dispute, ensuring that everyone cooperated. However, his attempts to bring the parties closer together were to no avail, and major differences remained, particularly with regard to the notion of mobility demanded by the employer.
Having been unable to bring the FIQ and the government to an agreement, the conciliator exercised his power of recommendation and today tabled a solution that he considers to be a reasonable balance between the parties for the renewal of working conditions.
This recommendation from the conciliator will be presented to your delegates at a Special Federal Council on September 16 and 17, 2024 to decide if it will be sent to the members for a referendum vote.
Keep an eye out. Your delegates will give you a follow-up in the coming days.
