The CAQ has left us no other choice

After several weeks of deadlock, government representatives finally called us back to the bargaining table. During a meeting on August 29, they presented us with a new proposal…which turned out to be nothing more than a facade.

What has been put on the table in no way recognizes the expertise of healthcare professionals, nor does it prevent the employer from moving them wherever it sees fit. Far from being a breakthrough in negotiations, this new proposal actually marks a step backwards from the agreement already rejected in April of this year. For more details, contact your local team.

Given the lack of seriousness and respect, we have no choice but to escalate our pressure tactics. As of September 19, we encourage you to refuse all offers of overtime. Your participation is vital in order for this heavy pressure tactic to work. The coming weeks will give us time to prepare. In the meantime, we need to make sure the pressure is the employer’s weight to bear.

In the days ahead, healthcare professionals across Quebec will make their voices heard. It’s time the government stopped making empty promises and started presenting serious solutions to vital issues: mobility and respect of expertise. Our nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists are waiting.
